QX-2H504A 2-phase Stepper Driver

 QX-2H504A 2-phase stepper driver is the all-digital stepper driver. It uses servo control theory and the optimized control calculation. It has no concepts of “beat” and “subdivision” of the traditional driver. No matter how many steps are set, the motor current is always the accurate sine current instead of current step. That is why the stepper motor has good performance, stability, and low-speed mute and extremely low heat productivity.

It’sused to drive 2-phase hybrid stepper motor 86 type. It has 16 different currentvalues by setting switches 5-8 and maximum current is 5.0A. It needs AC24-40V,50/60Hz power supply and over 140W power is better. It has 255 different stepsand maximum step is 51000. 14 types of steps can be set by switches 1-4.

Before drivers power on, setDIP switches. Switch1-4 is for steps with 14 kinds as the following table.Switch5-8 is for the current with 16 kinds as the driver’s panel. Aftersetting, power on the driver.

If 14 kinds of steps in theabove table can meet demands, please ignore the issue. If you want to use othersteps among 255 kinds, firstly save the steps you want in the driver, then setswitch1-4 to 0000 before power on. Find the steps, K1 and K2 in the followingtable, then set as below (only set one time, steps is saved although poweroff): driver power off sw1-4=1111 driver power on (red and green lights flash fast) sw2-4=000, sw5-8=K1 toggle sw1 at least 5 times till the red light is off and the green lightslowly flashes power off the driver sw1-4=1111 power on the driver(red light and green light fast flash) sw2-4=001, sw5-8=K2 toggle sw1 at least 5 times till the red light is off and the green lightslowly flashes. After power off, the setting is finished. Then set sw1-4=0000,sw5-8=motor current, after power on, the driver stats to work.

Set Parameters

Usually default parameterscan normally work. When special application is needed, some parameters can bechanged. Parameters include, 1. single/dual pulse (default: single pulse), 2.EN port function (default: off-line), 3. Motor direction (default direction),4. Lock current percentage (default: 50%), 5. Lock time (default: 1s). If setparameters, before power on the driver, set sw1-4=1111.

Set   single/dual pulse, EN port function, motor direction, restore default

Single/Dual   Pulse

Default: Single

The driver is controlled by the pulse   signal and work. Every pulse drives the motor to rotate one step. Two types   of motor control direction: signal pulse and dual pulse. The single pulse   means the pulse signal is at a port (CP port) of the driver, and the motor   direction is controlled by another port (DIR port), and DIR port is low level   for one direction, and high level is for the other direction. The dual pulse   means the pulse signal is at the driver’s two ports (CW & CCW, Note: CP   is CW and DIR is CCW). CW with pulse signal is one direction and CCW with   pulse signal is the other direction. Note: when there is no pulse, make sure   the differential level of port is 0 (internal optocoupler is not connected).   Pulse port signal value is 3~24V.

EN Port   Function

Default: Off-line

When EN port is not connected or the   differential level is 0, driver is enable state and it normally works. When   its differential level is 1, the driver is disable state and it stops   working. Disable state has two kinds, off-line and lock. When off-line, the   current is 0. When lock, it is lock current. Note: lock current is controlled   by lock percentage. EN signal 3~24V.

Motor   Direction

Default Direction

We set motor direction to clockwise or   anticlockwise. If you want opposite direction, you can set.

Restore   Default

Restore all settings to default.

Setting   Method

Four functions are set by sw5-8:

Single/dual pulse: sw5=0-->[single pulse]       sw5=1-->[dual pulse]

EN:                sw6=0-->[off-line]           sw6=1-->[lock]

Motor direction:   sw7=0-->[default direction]   sw7=1-->[opposite direction]

Restore default:   sw8=0-->[not restore]        sw8=1-->[restore]

Note: all settings become default.

Method:

   power off driver, set sw1-4=1111

   power on driver (red and green light fast flash)

   set sw2-4=010, set sw5-8 according to your demand

   toggle sw1 at least 5 times, till red light is off and green light slow   flashes             

   power off and setting is over

Set lock   current percentage

Lock Current   Percentage

Default: 50%

The driver stops working (after pulse   signal stops for a while), motor enters lock state, and it does not need too big   power, just lock the motor. In order to reduce motor heat productivity and   lower energy consumption, usually reduce lock current, it has 11 kinds of   lock percentage.

   power off driver, set sw1-4=1111

   toggle sw1 at least 5 times, till red light is off and green light slow   flashes

The time is from pulse signal stops to lock   current percentage starts.

   toggle sw1 at least 5 times, till red and green lights are off

   after 2 seconds of lights off, red and green lights start to flash in order,   flash 19 times of a cycle then end       

   after 2 seconds of red and green lights flash fast at the same time, enter   next cycle till power off

For example, flash of 19times is[green-red-green-green-red-red-green-red]-[green-red-green-red]-[red-green-red-green]-[red-green-red]

Note: green light flash=0,red light flash=1, then K value of 1-8=01001101(binary number), then change to77(decimal number), then steps=15400 according to table on page 2 orcalculation of 200*K=200*77. 9-12=0101, then lock current percentage=50%.13-16=1010, then lock time=1 second. 17=1, then dual pulse. 18=0, thenoff-line. 19=0, opposite direction.

Driver Self-run

The driver can run by itself without thesignal from the controller. Run cycle means it starts at low speed in onedirection,

then speed up, then speed down, stops for 5seconds, start at low speed again in the other direction, then speed up, then

speed down, stops 5 seconds, a cycle ends.Note: during a run cycle, run steps of two directions are the same and in this

way driver run accuracy can be tested. Inself-test mode, lock current percentage and lock time are effective.

Self-test procedurepower off driver, set sw1-4=1111; power on driver(red and green lights flash fast), set

sw2-4=110,sw5-8 set currentcheckthe table);toggle sw1 at least 5 times, till red light is off and green light is

on, and the motor starts to run; aftermotor runs, if set sw1=0, the driver runs by himself all the time; if stop

the run, set sw1=1, but the motor doesn’tstop right now, after a run cycle, it stops, if set sw1=0, the motor runsagain.
